Cousins,
As you know, Old Henry Tuckness b. ca 1794 was listed in the 1820 Federal
Census in Maury Co, TN. We have also shown before that there were the
following in the household:
Male 16-26: Two
Male < 10: One
Female >45: One
Female 16-26: One
Slave Female <14: One
OK, we know that one of the males 16-26 had to be Old Henry. The female
16-26 is probably Henry's wife, the female >45 could be the mother of Henry
or his wife, but we don't know. I have speculated before that the second
male 16-26 is probably Henry's brother Jordon. That was an educated guess
since we don't find Jordon in the 1820 census.
One thing I had previously overlooked was that the 1820 census indicates
that one of the adults was involved in agriculture and one in commerce. I
also note that in the book, "Century Review of Maury County", pub. 1907.
Chapter Title: Mt. Pleasant Department. Early (ca 1830) stores: Jordan
Tuckness, gunsmith. p. 83. So, Henry was the farmer and Jordon who was
living with Henry and his family was the "business man".
