Hi. I would like to find out about more about Edward W. Turner, his parents
and siblings.
Edward W. TURNER b. 1810 KY, moved to MO before 1838, died 17 Mar 1879
Mary Ann SHIRLEY (Snoddey) Turner b. 18 Dec 1805 KY.
H1 of Mary Ann SHIRLEY was John Snoddey & they were married 26 Feb 1824
Barren Co KY They had one son John T. Snoddey b. 1825 in KY
Children of Edward and Mary Ann Turner
-James Albert b 1838 MO
- Georgiana b.1840 MO
-Pauline b. 1842 Carroll county Moss Creek Twp
-Laura b. 1846 MO
Family came to Moss Creek township, Carroll co MO in 1842 and located on
what was known as Round Grove Farm. Being settled on the direct Stage road
to St. Joseph and the west (between St. Louis and Kansas City) they opened a
house of entertainment for travelers. It became a place of note to all who
traveled over the road, and was known as the best feeding place in the
western county. Moss Creek was a splendid fishing steam and these
considerations induced commercial tourists to while away several days at a
time, enjoying the sport of fishing and eating the splendid meals provided
bythe host and hostess of Round Grove farm.
On the 1850 census they have in addition to their children an 18 year old
farmer named John A. Pile. Edward was a witness for the will of Thomas
Sweeney written 29 Nov 1872. I have a copy of a letter written in 1857 from
Mary Ann that describes her Shirley family, but I know nothing about the
family of Edward.
Thanks for any help. Connie Putnam Falls Church Va
