I am still in Isle of Wight, VA records. Lots of Turners had their start
in this county for when doing the NC records, they often referred back to I
of W, VA.
1793 Mathew Turner gave surety for Wm Bennet and Ann Edwards to marry.
1800 Mathew Turner left will naming, Nancy Brown from Surry county,
married 12/14/1789 and children Josiah, Willis, Patsey, Unborn. Witnesses
were Parr, Joe Moody, William turner, his brother. Brother Jesse dies in
same year anad father dies also in this year.
1776 Mathew Turner purchases 100 acres from Whestray of Bertie co, NC.
1785 Mathew Turner ...not sure of my abstract but note says Joshua Turner
signs off on account estate. Write for record if your relative.
1789 Mathew Turner married Nancy Brown, recorded by Rev. Hubbard at
Newport.
1789 Mathew Turner estate report filed by Kinchen Turner. children are
Martha, Nancy, Elizabeth, John, Sally.
1792 Mathew Turner married Elizabeth Saunders with surety given by Elias
Saunders, Parent Sarah Saunders.
1800 Mathew Turner left will naming Joisah, Willis, Patsey, unborn child.
Same as above but I must have found in two ways and typed both in.
1792 Nancy Turner married George Goodrich. Mother is Martha Turner,
surety put up by William Goodrich. Married by Rev. Hubard.
1796 Patience Turner married Jacob Butler, surety by John Holland.
1787 Pierce Turner married Betty Powell, both of Isle of Wight but found
also in Southampton, VA bond records.
1683 Richard Turner witnessed the will of Ann Richards. Names in will are
gson robert Bevans, Madison Street is mentioned as is John Street. Wm
Lowder and Robert Bevans to get estate. I have typed STreet name with
Turner name before, not sure where.
1790 Sally Turner, married William Whitley with surety by Thomas Turner.
1732 Sarah Turner and husband Henry. Found in will of Madison Street,
sister Sarah with Henry Turner, cousin. Also cousin George Madison, John,
Thomas Whitley cousin Mary, daughter of brother George Street. god d.
Martha Whitley, Sister Ann Smith, cousin Sarah Smith, d of John. Turners,
Whitley, Street are all mixed in this group but watch dates.
1790 Sarah Turner married William Whitley by Wills, a Methodist minister.
Note above Sally also married Wm Whitley. I think we are looking at the
same person as dates are two days apart. One must be bond. Perhaps Sally
is nickname for Sarah.
1737 Simon Turner appraised estate of Edward Bratley. 1738 Simon
appraised estate of Thomas Cook.
1750 Simon turner purchased land from Arthur and Eliz. Jordan of
Northampton, NC. simon is from Southampton. 100 acres had belonged to
John turner in 1686 which he willed to his son Joseph who willed it to his
son James who willed it to ... notes stop. My printout did not always
pick up the full input. I think it read james willed to Eliz, not sure.
1752 Simon Turner, who is the son of John Turner, and Simon's wife Mary
sell land in Nottoway parish, Southampton VA to Robert Johnson, Newport
Parish. Land was granted in 1686 to John, willed to Simon. Adjoins the
land of Mathew tomlin, Wm Westray , Tom Harris and Johnson, Sr.
1725 Thomas Turner, wife was Lucretia Segraves. Found in the will of
Francis Segraves, who names Lucretia Turner as daughter. His wife is also
called Lucretia. Abraham Hicks was a witness.
1712 Thomas Turner appraaised land of John Lewis estate.
1719 Thomas Turner who married to Martha Joyner, daughter of thomas
Joyner.
1728 Thomas Turner appraised esate of John Johnson
1746 Thomas Turner selling land. Identified with Edgecombe, NC
1750 thomas Turner purchased land from Francis and Suzanna Williamson in
NC. Land adjoins Sewards Swamp, james Tomlin, George Gern and Hugh
Spotswood.
1751 Thomas Turner, wife Martha. Thomas estate appraised, Martha signed
off. Again signed off in 1754.
1752 Thomas Turner witnessed power of attorney of John Chevillette,
formerly of SC, now I of Wight to Adam Brown of I of Wight.
1756 Thomas and wife Elizabeth sell land to Arthur Williamson of
Southampton, deeded to Thomas in 1744 adjoins Tomlin, Spotswood, Sewards
Swamp.
1758 Thomas witnessed a gift from John Roberts to gson Thomas Roberts.
1759 Thomas Turner and wife Unity sell 125 acres to Robert Eley. Thomas
is the son of Thomas who is the son of Thomas and his wife, Martha Joyner,
d of Thomas Joyner. Land was willed to Martha Joiner who married Thomas
Turner who willed it to their son Thomas, who willed it to his only son and
heir, Thomas who married Unity. If you think yours, write for this record
as it gives lots of family information.
1760 Thomas Turner witnessed sell of land of Wm Hatchell
1761 Thomas Turner witnessed sell of land by hale on Sewards Swamp in
Newport Parish. In 1762 witnessed land sell again.
1763 Thomas and wife Unity sell 250 acres on Blackwater River, join land of
Eley, Thomas Turner and Boon and Edwards.
1763 Thomas appraised estate of Robert Edwards
1765 Thomas purchased 175 acres on Fullyhamss Swamp, joins Hall, Batten,
John Marshall, Whitney, Morris. Sold by Batten family.
1766 Thomas and Unity selling 100 acres in Newport parish that was granted
to Thomas Joiner 1698
1772 Thomas Turner witnessed will of John Morris
1775 Thomas and wife Mary, sons Thomas and Nelson at wife's death an equal
division between her children. Wit was Wm Turner and Thomas Whitney plus
Joshua Jenkins.
1754 Thomas Turner, sr's wife Martha gives an estate account. Estate was
appraised in 1751/52.
1810 ??? Not sure of date... Unity Turner names son Peter Turner in will.
1788 Vines Turner marries Ann Adams by Rev. Wm Hubard
1810 Wilea (Wiley) turner marries Nancy Pope. I think this is Jesse and
Lucy's son.
1811 Wiley and wife Nancy sell land 30 acres, adjoins Jesse Turner's line.
Nancy due to preg. unable to travel to sign dower signature
1815 Wiley and wife Matilda mentioned in land record.
1847 Wiley and Momney Whitley marriage record
Must hurry to get ready for work. Had hoped to finish Isle of Wight but
next time as I have pages on name William.
