Hi List!
I am trying to find some information on my GG Grandfather, Green B. Turner who
is from the Tigerville, SC area (also known as the Dark Corner). He was
married to Harriett Pittman. They raised my Great-Grandmother (not sure who
her biological parents are), Roxie Turner who was born October 8, 1892 in
Tigerville, SC and she died in June 1969 in Atlanta, GA. She is buried at
Graceland Cemetery in Greenville, SC. It is believed that Green B. Turner had
a brother by the name of Malcolm Turner who married Corrie (sp ?) Hawkins.
Malcolm and Corrie had a son named Carl. These Turners were moonshiners. It
is believed that Green B. Turner was jailed in March of 1877 for making and
selling moonshine. This is how people who lived in the "Dark Corner"
(Tigerville, SC) made a living. If anyone has any info. to share, please let
me know.
Thanks,
Shonda Smit
