I just found some of my Turner's in Fort Scott which isn't too far from Iola.
Mine were from Illinois - Champaign county and left there in late 1882 or early
1883. My names area:
Orson A., born in 1840 in NY
was in ILL by 1865 and married
Cerilda/Syrelda Jane Anderson 1865
They had in Ill:
Ella
Delia
Charles
Orson Oliver and a twin named John (John died in 9/1883 - in ILL)
Nettie
Silas H. who married Carrie Ada probably in KS
**these two died in Fort Scott and were buried in Centerville Cemetery in Devon -
Carrie in 1941 and Silas in 1946; they had two children, Fay Wallace, male and
Nena.
and Joseph Glenn born March 1883 in Kansas.
Any sound familiar? Some of the family went to Ok to homestead in Jan of 1894
and Orson (father) sold in 1901 and went to Springfield Mo and Silas sold in 1905
and went first to Barton County, Hoisington and then to Scott, Scott City. They
entire family may have been in Prattes County or the city of Coats before going
to OK>
