Hi,
I have written to this list a couple of times looking for Thomas
TURNER's (possibly William Thomas Turner) family. I finally found
them! I now know Thomas' father, 2 brothers and 1 sister. A cousin
had them on her site. She is descended from Margaret Turner and William
Jasper BOYD. Here is what she has, I have added my information on
Thomas and his children:

Father: Samuel Turner, born Bef. 1791 (possibly in the 1780's).

Children of Samuel Turner:

1. Thomas Turner, b. May 14, 1804 in or near Edgefield, SC; d.
9-3-1875 in McMinnville, TN, Married Melvina (Lavina) ELLIOTT in 1825,
in SC. She was b. May 14, 1803 in NC; d. 3-24-1876 in TN. Both are
buried in Smyrna Cemetery in McMinnville, TN. They had 8 children, all
born in TN.

2. Eli Turner, b. abt. 1811 in SC. died aft. 1860. Married Mary Ann
SNODGRASS, b. abt. 1806 in GA, d. aft. 1880.

3. Samuel Turner, b. 1823 in Bledsoe Co., TN. Married Lucinda RAINEY
in TN. b. abt.1823.

4. Margaret Turner, b. 8-10-1825 in TN. d. 10-9-1892 in Bledsoe, Co.,
TN. Married William Jasper BOYD. He is the son of Major Elliott Hodge
BOYD and Drucilla MOORE.

Children of Thomas Turner:

1. Henry Thomas Turner b. 4-11-1826 in McMinnville, TN, d. 7-23-1904.
Married Mary Jane BOYD, abt. 1848. She was b. 4-25-1829 in Pikeville,
TN, d. 2-15-1902. Both are buried in Collier Cemetery, Dunlap, TN. She
is the daughter of Major Elliott Hodge BOYD and Drucilla MOORE and
sister to William Jasper BOYD.
They had 6 children.

2. Martha Caroline, b. 2-15-1828, d. 1-8-1868. Married Jefferson Acquila
SAVAGE or Acquila Jefferson SAVAGE. Had 3 children.

3. Andrew Jackson, b. 5-18-1830. Married Catherine (Kitty Ann) AKEMAN.
Had 2 children.

4. John Jefferson, b.5-18-1831, d. 9-11-1882. Married Margaret (McGee)
Overturf. Had 8 children.

5. William Thomas Jr., b. 10-27-1837. Married #1 Parlee DOLTON m.
7-31-1870 #2 Rachel SMITH, m. 8-1-1873 #3. Martha Ellen JOHNSON, m.
5-24-1894. Had 8 children and took care of 2 other children.

6. Ozias Denton, b. 3-15-1840. Married Martha McCorkle. Had 5
children.

7. Margaret, b. 4-21-1841. Married William Bruce CHRISTIAN. Had 6
children.

8. Ellenza Melvina, b. 12-7-1844, d. 4-16-1886. Married Joseph BARNES.
Had 3 children.


My 2nd great grandparents, Henry Thomas Turner and Mary Jane Boyd had 6
children:

Harriet, b. 1849.

George Taylor, b. 1-21-1852 in McMinnville, TN, d. 1-31-1916 in OK.
Married Florida Jane MERRIMAN, 9-16-1883 in Dunlap, TN. She was born
7-26-1863 in Pikeville, TN. d. 12-28-1941. Both are buried in Union
Center Cemetery, Texas Co., OK. They had 16 children. She was the
daughter of Rufus Allen MERRYMAN and Margaret ROBERSON.

Margaret, b. 1853.

James Buchcanon, b. 5-22-1854, d. 10-25-1905 in TN. Married Mary
DODSON.

Amanda, b. 1855. Married Andrew TANNER.

Thomas Elliott, b. 1857. Married Nancy Elizabeth GILLENTINE, on
6-23-1881. She was b. 7-4-1857 in Nashville, TN. d. 11-4-1949 in AZ.

Henry Thomas Turner served in the 16th Regiment, Company "H", of
Warren Co. and Grundy Co., TN, during the Civil War.

I am descended from George Taylor Turner and Florida Jane MERRIMAN,
though their son, Jesse Lee Turner.

Surnames I'm looking for right now are:
TURNER, MERRYMAN, MERRIMAN, BOYD, MOORE, WOODS, ROBERSON, FUQUA, OWEN,
HENNESSEE, BARNES, and any of the surnames above and more. My BOYD
family also has RAINS in it. I also have all of Thomas and Melvina's
grandchildren and their spouses.

Any help would be appreciated, especially if someone can help us to
find more on Thomas' father, Samuel, and his siblings, Eli, Samuel and
Margaret Turner. I do have some information on Margaret.
