You might try your local county library. Look for 4-5 volumes of "PENSION
ABSTRACTS OF AMERICAN REVOLUTION VETERANS"....or something like that. It
gives an alphabetical listing of all veterans who applied for their
pensions, whether their applications were accepted or rejected. Many
times, the veteran had outlived all of his witnesses to his service. In
that case, they had no proof that they were even IN the Rev War.
My 2nd gr. g'father's (JAMES HUNT) pension application was rejected. He
was 86 yrs old when he applied, lived so far out in the boonies he didn't
know a pension was available. He was crippled, and probably broke, he had
outlived any witnesses to his service. His pension was rejected. I have
his Application, and he served several times, his recollections of his
service corresponded with history books regarding the battles he was in,
dates, etc. That is one of the sad truths of our history.
