I now believe James Lafayette Turner, b. 1817, probably in Garrett
County, Maryland is my g, g, grandfather.

James Lafayette Turner married (1) Martha Abernathy. Martha died and
is buried in Taintor, Iowa. James was later buried beside her.

James returned to Oakland, Garrett County, Maryland after the death of
Martha and at age 56, remarried.

James married (2) Hettie (Harriett) Brandt Kepner, a widow, age 36,
living in Garrett County Maryland. Marriage date, Oct. 2, 1873.
Harriett's first husband was Tobia Bittinger Nicholas Kepner b. 1836,
Hanover, York Co., PA d. July 31, 1870.

Full information for Harriette: Harriett Margarite Brandt b. May 15,
1838, Allegany Co., Maryland, married Tobias, Sept. 15, 1858, d. March
13, 1911 Springfield, Lane Co., Oregon.

Grace Myrtle Turner, b. 1876 is suppose to be the last child born to
James and Hettie. Per the 1900 Garrett County Maryland census, Grace
said she was born in West Virginia.

Does anyone have connections to this family?
