Denise--"" wrote that a Nelson Turner, son of Mithas
& Mary Turner, born abt 1816 & died in 1877. Unfortunately, Denise, you
didn't give geographic locations so I'm shooting in the dark.

WE have a Nelson Turner, born abt 1797 in Chesterfield, VA. He was the son
of Matthew & Mary Ann "Polly" Farmer Turner. The 1850 Union co, KY census
note that Nelson, husband to Mary, was 50 years old...

The above Nelson married either an Amanda McKinney (although I believe it
was a SON and namesake who did) or a Mary Ann Lee. I think previous family
researchers may have confused two different Nelsons due to an inconsistency
in dates & wives' names...

The Nelson who was born in VA may have had a wife named Mary Ann Lee, who
is buried on what was their family farm in Sturgis, KY--near where other
Turners had property and from whom my husband is descended. Former
researchers note that Nelson was married to an Amanda McKinney, and who is
buried in AR-- where several other Turners migrated.

KY marriage records show a Nelson Turner marrying an Amanda McKinney in
1837 (that's probably where the family researcher rushed to judgement), but
census records prove that if the first Nelson's wife was Amanda--he was a
bigamist! I think the elder had a son and namesake who married Amanda--and
moved to AR with other Turners.

If any of your Turners come from Chesterfield co, VA, had connections to KY
& AR, perhaps we fit somewhere......

Give me a holler if this rings any bells,
Regards

Karen
