2nd wife of Freedom Wright
Seeking information on her parents:

First Generation


1. Phebe TURNER died in 1793 in Winchester, Litchfield, Connecticut.1

Phebe TURNER and Freedom WRIGHT were married on 10 Aug 1789.2 Freedom WRIGHT, son of John WRIGHT and Prudence DEMING, was born on 3 Jul 1749 in Goshen, Litchfield, Connecticut.3 History of the Town of Goshen, Connecticut, by Rev. A. G. Hibbard, A.M., Goshen, Published by the Press of Case, Lockwood & Brainard Company, Hartford, Connecticut, 1897, p. 570.
The family manuscript adds the names Hiram and Sheldon to the list of children, but does not state by which wife.
Freedom married Jerusha Sheldon as his third wife and raised a large family. The names of the children are not listed in the family manuscript.
In the War of the Revolution he served as a private in Capt. Seth Smith's Co., which marched from the town of New Hartford of the relief of Boston in the "Lexington Alarm," April 1775; and also as a private in Capt. John Sedgwick's Co., Col. Benjamin Hinman's (4th) Conn. Continental Regiment, in 1775. Moved from Goshen to Winstead about 1770. Served as lieut of Conn. militia, but there is no record of his service as Lieut. in the War of the Revolution. In 1802, he sold his farm in Winchester, and with his family and his brother Charles and family, removed to Jefferson County, New York, called the "Black River Country."

Freedom WRIGHT and Phebe TURNER had the following children:

2i.Anna WRIGHT was born on 16 Mar 1790 in Winchester, Litchfield, Connecticut.4
3ii.Freedom WRIGHT was born on 29 Sep 1791 in Goshen, Litchfield, Connecticut.5 He died on 20 Oct 1791 at the age of 0 in Goshen, Litchfield, Connecticut.6
4iii.Freedom WRIGHT was born on 6 Oct 1792 in Winchester, Litchfield, Connecticut.7
