donna,

floppy disks dont hold many photos & will take up a great deal of room for
the massive amount of photos. what you need is a cd-rw (compact disk -
rewritable). they have 600-700 megabytes (not just 1.44 meg) of disk space.
blanks generally run around $1 each in bundles of 10-50.

if you don't plan to move or change the photos/information you put on them,
you can get DIRT CHEAP cd-rom (cd-readable only memory) blank disks for as
cheap as 10 cents or so (macfrugals had them for that recently). the drive
to record them costs about $200 but is well worth it. imagine 400 floppy
disks placed on 1 cd.

copies can easily be made & sent anywhere you want for safekeeping.
