Hello list, With regard to the Social Security Death Index, I still haven't
figured it out. My maternal grandfather died in 1966 and is not listed on
the SS death index, but is listed on the Texas death records. My maternal
grandmother, his wife, died in 1996 and IS listed on the SS death index. I'm
not sure what records you were referring to as far as a 25 year waiting time,
but it doesn't seem to fit in all cases. I will call the Social Security
office on Monday morning and ask them. If I get some kind of clear answer
(in other words, if the person seems to know what they are talking about), I
will post the answer. This seems to have been a big topic for discussion for
several days and know one seems to know the correct answer.
Also, If I misunderstood about the 25 year wait, someone please let me know,

Alice Braddy Davis

Elmendorf, Texas

Hi All, Just one small detail.... The records must be of a certain age. I
was told that Birth records cannot be accessed until the record is 50 years
old. The Death record must be 25 years old.
