My Dad was also in the hospital at Sanitarium, TX for three years in the
50's. He lived three years after being released but never was in good
health again. By the 50's there were not such strong rules about
families. My Mother and I had X-ray's and were OK. We would visit as
often as we could make the several hundred miles across Texas and back
then that was a long trip in an car without A/C in the summer. We would
stay at a little motel at the edge of San Angelo and my Dad would have a
weekend pass to stay with us. Wonder how many people had their lives
changed by this disease. Today my husband suffers from Parkinson's
Disease. Seems there is always something to stop us.
