Nancy and I have transcribed a lot of cemeteries in Hamilton County, Tx. and made a lot mistakes a long the way. At the beginning of the cemetery tell everyone where you started, on the south corner or etc. When you get through with that row start the next row were you started the first one, also start in the same place. On a lot of our cemeteries we did not have a plat map to go by so we make our own. I wrote down the information off of the headstone and Nancy made the plat map on graph paper. For a double headstone we used oxo and for a single headstone we used x. Nancy would print small enough to put the last name above each headstone. We gave each row a number (Row -1, Row-2) and each grave had a number ( G-1, G-2). That way when someone wants to find a grave you can show them on the plat map where it is. We made a plat map for Murphree Cemetery, Oakwood and several more cemeteries in Hamilton County, Tx.

If anyone has any questions about how we did our cemeteries please contact me.
