--- you indicate that the graves are "overgrown with weeds" while my friend
describes them as "in thick woods".  In talking with him, he indicated that
the stones might have been "deposited there" which makes me wonder if there
hasn't been some vandalism to that cemetery.  Maybe somebody out that way can
take a look?

Let's see, we are still talking the black cemetery - The Bottoms - I believe
either description would fit. The cemetery is in a "thick wood" behind a
subdivision and has been let go to be overgrown with weeds. When I was there,
the markers were obviously in the place where they were originally. Not to say
that some vandalism has not occurred. When I was there it was obvious that
those gates from backyards were there "for dumping purposes" and evidence in a
rather cleared out area of kids gathering. Contact was made to homeowners and
civic association to no avail ... and apparently no family still around. The
contact with the gal who worked with the ACE group - Lugenia "Genie"
Parham-Evans - I believe had some contact with one or two family members .... it's a
shame. Someone in the area might try one of the local black churches or some
other black group ... but don't hold your breath!
