Blessings upon you Melissa. It is people like you - and so many others -
that give me hope that my gr-grandmothers stone will be found someday.
Unfortunately, none of the family has ever been able to even find the
cemetery (Texas or Oklahoma) where she was buried. Her family was ashamed
of her and would never talk about her - she was married (2nd) to a Doolin
gang member who was serving life at Huntsville (convicted of killing Sheriff
McGee during a train robbery in 1894 at Canadian, Tx) then she was involved
in murdering a neighbor over a cattle dispute, along with her brother, in
1898, and given a life sentence which was then overturned because of irate
citizens in Chickasha, I.T. thinking it was too harsh of a sentence for a
young woman with children. She then started dating (maybe married to -
don't know) her sister's ex-husband, caught him with another woman and
burned down his barn. He killed her for this act on 4 Jan 1914 or 1916
(Bible entry illegible). Two of her sons (by George Isaacs) then shot and
killed the man that killed their mother. Geez, I'm getting carried away but
I've searched for her for so many years. All I have are names, dates, few
census records, newspaper articles (on all the stories except her own
murder) and a few pictures of her. Her oldest son, by her first marriage,
is my grandpa. Colorful character she was, to say the least. I know this
is probably off topic - except for my searching for the cemetery she was
buried in - and I apologize. But, if anyone has avenues I haven't explored,
I would appreciate hearing from you. Because of all her last names and 2
uncertain death dates, I can't afford a search for all of them yet. I've
had 3 "cannot locate" in Texas and also in Oklahoma.
Carol
