Over the past few years, fascination with 'all things cemeteries' has taken hold! Some of us have had it for more years than we'd care to remember but a lot of younger folks are just finding out that it is the cemetery that holds local history. And a lot of seasoned citizens now have digital cameras and time to trek around - good for the rest of us who can't.

Author Bill Harvey traces his interest in Texas cemeteries to high school summers when he worked in Fort Worth's Mount Olivet Cemetery. Couple that with a student of Texas history, outdoorsman and photographer, he has worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for twenty years, and his book, Texas Cemeteries, is the natural offspring.

Telling stories of some of the significant lives that rest in some of our Texas cemeteries - heroes of the Texas Revolution, great African-American cowboys, the first woman in Texas elected to statewide office, American Indians and immigrants - Bill Harvey recounts in brief history the famous, the infamous, and the just plain interesting!

Arranged alphabetically by city for easy reference, one or more cemeteries with some of its 'citizens' will be noted. In addition, Harvey also includes tips on finding cemeteries, locating gravesites, and taking good photographs. Illustrated with photographs, in addition to the table of contents, the reader will find a full-name index and an interesting Bibliography with primary sources, websites, and newspaper sources.
