Subject: dulaney-delany, Robinson and BRANDON family in Texas
Date: Fri, 3 Feb 2006 09:57:40 -0500
I am looking for anyone who may help me find out how my Robinson family got to Texas 1869-1872. In 1869 in Louisiana Sarah F (Calhoun?) Robinson Morris died, leaving behind a 2nd husband Dr A.P. Morris, three Robinson children and two Morris children. I have a family story of the Morris husband being mean & not being able to care for Robinson children, so they sent the Robinsons to live with a family in Texas named Dulaney. I do not know how much of that story is true, since the mom died in 1869 and kids were born 1850-1857. I have found a couple of people named Dulaney in the are where the Robinsons eventually settled, but nothing that links them at all. There is a Dulaney family in Palestine (Emma Robinson married her husband John Brandon in 1872 in Palestine anderson Co TX by a Methodist circuit minister) and there is a Nelson Dulaney in the militia in the same area around Fort Hood.
I do not know where Emma Robinson lived when she first came to Texas, about 1870. I know John Brandon supposedly went from MO to Ark and in Texas first went to Cranfils Gap (Bosque Co?) and Turnersville Texas in Coryell County. After their marriage in 1872 John and Emma and her brother Walter Robinson settled in Coryell County. Emma and John Brandon moved to Tehuacana about 1881, leaving the land in Coryell to Walter Robinson and his new wife (Mattie Waggoner.) I believe he is buried in Mexia, and John and Emma are buried in Wortham.
I am looking for John Brandon and family, and all family of Robinsons (Emma and Walter had a sister Mary who I cannot find after 1870 in Louisiana. I dont know if she came to Texas or died or married and went elsewhere.) I am trying to find where John Brandon and Elizabeth Henson Brandon are buried (John's parents.) John had brothers Hugh and Charles and a cousin named Rufus who all came to Texas and lived and died and are buried in Texas.
I am also looking for Dulaney family in hopes of connecting Robinsons and Brandons somehow, and maybe finding out the name of the father of the Robinson children (Walter? John? William?) Does anybody have any burial info for any Dulaneys or alt spelling: Delaneys?
Any ideas? I have searched census records but would like to find maybe church records or records from Fort Hood or Coryell or Anderson Counties.
Would like to see if John and Emma had any witnesses at their wedding, or if it was noted anywhere.
All help appreciated.
THANKS LISTERS FOR EVERYTHING!!
Diane
