look where it is - near wac(k)o. if it were a white cemetery, there would have been plenty of volunteers to save it. 'nuff said.

That's a bunch of mar larky!
Yes, having been in the same situation, it would take a hands-on with hand
tools (machetes, etc.) to do it. But it can be done! Evergreen Cemetery
here in Houston was the same way ... new neighbors in the area did not even
know a cemetery existed. We began at the entrance and worked from there -
clearing all 15 acres over a six year period of 1st & 3rd Saturdays,
year-round. When we first began the constables came by several times a day
to be sure we were o.k. Fenced, Texas Historical Marker, flag poles. We
took advantage of Adult Probationers to speed our work. Our job done, what
joy to stand in the center of the cemetery and be able to see all four
corners! Evergreen Friends had formed as a 501(c)(3) group and become the
official owners, and then turned it over to a funeral home (under our
watchful eye) who keeps it up and is still doing burials.

But this situation goes to show why every cemetery in your county (wherever
you are) should be identified and some plan made to ensure their safety.
Get your county Historical Commission involved, older Boy Scout (Eagle
Badge), ask for adult probationers, etc.
