I have never seen a post on this list so I would love to talk about Texas in
the Civil War.
Here is a good site to start with.
http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/confeds.html

Information can be found and I have found some. But some of the links I had
marked are no longer good.
A lot of Texans joined the "Home Guard" and never saw action. One of my
ansestors lived in Helena, Karnes Co. Tx. Isaac J. Clark was in the Helena
Guard and died in 1870 so no pension aplication was ever made. But I did
find a record of him at the Confederate History Museum in Hill Co. Tx.
Then a lot of the small units were mustered into larger units at Houston and
Galveston when Galveston was attacked. That is where it gets confusing.
What was your gr-gr-grandfathers name and where did he live. That is a
good place to start.

Fort Worth, Texas
