So sorry for your being "scammed". It is getting to the point that if you are not a doctor, lawyer, indian chief, plumber, electrician, architect, accountant, etc., etc. or have some of their knowledge on a great number of subjects, you will be "scammed" by people who are not honest.

You can go to the NARA web site on-line and pull up request for forms or contact them by mail:

You can fill out forms yourself and request info on military service records. There is a wealth of info out there if you search for it. There are also many pretty good Civil War sites on-line, depending what you are searching for.

Don't know where this woman lives or how much you paid her but I would hunt her down, contact the local authorities and file charges. Good luck and God bless!
