Hi Steve,
There was one Schavrda in the phone book and no Shunka listing.
So, I assumed no Shunkas around, and you know what "assume" does. Anyway,
I spoke with Mr. Shupak on Tuesday when we were in Nelsonville and he
tells me he knew a Shunka, hadn't seen him in a couple of years, but that
he lived on Shunka Road, probably with his brother.
You might tell your correspondent to go over to Shunka Road and
ask around. It's not a long road and someone should know where they live.
I remember corresponding with someone who'd seen my web site and was
related to the Shunka family but the message was on another machine.
Also, Mr. Shupak told me there used to be quite a few Schavrdas
in the Cat Spring area but most are gone now -- explains why only one
listing in phone book.
Rick

style tombstones in an unattended grave site and both are lying on the
ground, heavily weathered and difficult to read. They are on land at the
end of Oak Road off FM 1094 between Cat Spring and New Ulm. The
inscriptions read Otto Sanka 27 hivell 1898 - 27 uno 1901 and Jos. Savrda 18
Zari 1820 - 11 List 1888l. Can anyone identify there two persons? Does
anyone know if others are buried in this graveyard?
