Most larger libraries have the Census for most states for most years. If
they don't have the one you want, they often can order it through ILL
(Inter-Library Loan). Call your local Library and ask where you can find the
Census you are looking for and if they will borrow it for you. If they say
no, insist on information as to where the nearest location is that you can
visit. It may be in a nearby city. There are FHCs (LDS Family History
Centers) located in most major cities. If you will go to this site on the
Internet, it will help you find the one closest to you:

Ancestral File Page</A>
They charge a very nominal sum for the rental of their film and provide you
with viewers and printers also at nominal amounts.
There is a vast amount of information on the Internet. I would suggest that
you start with www.Rootsweb.com and www.USGenweb.org for finding sources of
Census online. There is none (that I know of) of the Bastrop County Census
online as yet. Regretably, since I have no ancesters from this area, I don't
have any Census from here. If it is not possible for you to get to library
or FHC, you might consider buying your own copies of the Census you need from
such places as S-K Publications (in book form) and Heritage Quest in CD Rom.
There are a lot of companies that are now selling them.
Be careful that you buy the original images rather than an index. The index
just gives the name of the head of household with almost no other
information. It is, of course, very valuable in helping to locate a family,
but it doesn't give enough information to be of other value. I belong to
Ancestry.com, which has the Census Index available to members. However, it
is only through about 1870. Later Census Indexes are not available online
(1880, 1900, 1910, 1920), that I know of.
If your original request falls within these parameters, I will check the
index for you - if you write to me privately. I don't often make this offer
because it can become a massive task, but this list is small and as long as
it doesn't get out of hand or too much for me to keep up with, I don't mind
doing it for you.
