For those who are at a dead end with some family lines or who had family
members that may have been in neighboring counties, you may want to search
the Travis county archives. Paul Smith, who donated his cemetery book to the
Bastrop page, has been very busy and recently donated his records to the
Travis County page, too. Most important is the Oakwood Cemetery listing (the
oldest cemetery in Travis County that is even older than the State Cemetery
there) plus Mortuary Records.
I know of an instance where a Bastrop County family was removed from a local
burying ground and reburied in the Oakwood Cemetery so this could be another
location for you to search. In addition the Masonic Cemetery is located
there and online.
If you take this link, you can put a surname in and it will search all the
records in the archives for Travis County, TX. There may be more records on
the Travis County page itself that I didn't look at yet.
