St. John's Luthern Church is at the edge of town; Volo is up yonder a little
bit north of us; Stockton Ceme. is over yonder a little bit west of town;
some other little cemeteries, including one they just stumbled across out on
Sullivan or Sunshine road...want I should get some of those for you?

|Disclaimer at beginning of SOBCT: The present information is being
|transcribed onto the site as published in 1988. Once the entire two
volumes
|of text are posted, we will begin, with help from any and all descendents,
|to update the information.
|
|Cemeteries of Bell County: I have a copy of the elderly book, could I
help
|you transcribe some of them? I am trying to get 10 more biographies up
|today so that we hit the 100 mark. I would like to see a note somewhere,
in
|big letters, telling people I am doing these biographies in an effort to
|help build the sites for the celebration. I don't want anyone to think
that
|because my name is plastered up there so much that I am the only one that
|can submit the biographies...and something to tell them where to send their
|updates or, if they submit an update to the site, who to contact to get the
|older one off. You guys know that if I had my way about it, I would put
|Klem K. Kadiddlehopper as the person submitting. I just hope that someday,
|descendents will find the biographies and update them replacing my posts
|with theirs.
|
|You might also consider a note on biographies about not putting up
|information about living people.
|
|Just asking: Would it be better if I didn't send you chapter material
until
|I have typed up the whole chapter....or is it okay to send it in pieces
like
|I have been doing.
|
|Let me know about the cemeteries......ohhhhhhh...could you please give
|credit to Mr. and Mrs. Cowsert of Austin for doing the update of the
|Bartlett Cemetery..and the Mayor, Bruce Swope, of Bartlett for giving
|permission to use the list. Mr. Cowsert left me a message the other day
|that he will be bringing an updated disk by for me to send you. I have
|offered to give him your addy but he seems to want me to send it to you.
|
|I don't know anything about making webpages...but I do know I am more
likely
|to dive into the depths of a site if I can "go by links" rather than having
|to go back to the beginning and reinvent the search. Could maybe you talk
a
|local server like VVM into donating someone that can do webpages to visit
on
|a regular basis and then contact you to help you? Just a thought...is
|FrontPage the one from AOL???

||Howdy TXBELL Listers!
||I've been working on the BCHC pages recently, and would like to get some
||feedback from possible users. There are some links that don't work right
||(Live Oak Cemetery photo is in the wrong folder at the moment, and "Back
to
||Top" isn't correct on some pages), and content for the Story of Bell
County
||(SOBC) is going on pieces at a time (with lots of help from MaryAnn
||Barlett).
||
||I'd like to know what you think might help with navigation, whether the
||navigation buttons help or not (some of them, like in Chapter XV of SOBC,
||are WAY too busy), if the photo album is a good idea, and so forth. If you
||find something not working, feel free to let me know now, or at some point
||in future. FrontPage98 is new to me, as is HTML, and there's LOTS of room
||for errors (me) and improvements (the page). A very basic idea is to make
||the pages as user-friendly as possible, somewhat logical in flow and
|format,
||and USABLE. Some things are experimental, in that I'm not sure how to make
||them work, but over the long term, I think the BCHC page can become quite
|an
||information source for researchers.
||
||Please try the hyperlink to the County Archives, and see if the new search
||engine feature works for you. There are something like 33 cemeteries with
||lists there, although very dated, and more are coming. We'll try to update
||old lists in the very near future to be more current.
||
||When looking at the SOBC pages, please remember the book's publication
|date,
||1988, and remember that much information is probably not current. We hope
|to
||add some sort of in-text update feature, to provide more-current info.
||
||Thoughts?
