Many thanks for your response. I have seen the book that lists all of the
Indigent families of the counties within the state. In 1863 the Texas
Legislature appropriated $1,000,000 to be distributed to the indigent
families of soldiers who were already dead or away fighting the Civil War.

The county Judge or Chief Justice of each county was to prepare a list to be
submitted to the State. Those records have now been produced in a book
listing alpha. by County. It is a good reference, but it only lists those
families who need financial assistance.
