TN was a common place for people for people to live or stop at before
coming to TX. I know there have been some books written about the
general migration patterns across the frontiers and land rushes, but not
sure if there is any material specifically about those coming through
those AR counties.

My Deaver line started out in MD in 1657, then spent the Revolutionary
War in VA, migrated to western NC (participated in the founding of two
counties) and stayed there from about the 1780s to the 1850s. Many of
the families, including my Deaver ancestors, went to TN and spent the
Civil War there in Polk and Humphreys Counties. In the 1870s, they came
to Texas, most likely for the land. They arrived in Dallas in wagons
and parted ways, some Deaver families heading west to Erath/Brown
Counties and others south to Bell County. The rest, as they say, is
history...heh.

Joe, my William M. Peppers/Eveline Kincheloe, first white settlers on
"Peppers Creek" in Belton came from TN. He was b. 1817, ?, TN. Eveline
was
b. in Blount Co AL in 1822, (I think, I do not have it here before me).
The
Burns family settled on Peppers Creek later and they came from
Shelbyville,
Shelby Co.
Do you know of any records of the folks that traveled to Bell Co, TX
from TN
by way of Benton or Washington Co. ARK prior to 1840? Peppers's dau,
Mary
Jane was b. in ARK in 1841.
Thanks,
Dorice Saxon Jeffries in Austin
