Hello, the list, this data was sent out tonight to some cousins, looking to
see if anyone had explanation for the white and black familys-school teacher
and carpenter all at the same residence?

Texas was hard luck place just after the war. Little law enforcement, A
Military presence ,Separated and abandoned familys, widows, orphans,
carpetbaggers, and poverty was commonplace.

Our Meshack COllins, brother to the Shadrackjr. listed above, ..was in
Grimes co. in 1870 and had a daughter, Victoria asenath collins age 15,
living in Limestone co. with an attorney whose wife may have been collins
kin?. Mary Collins Pendergast, wife of Davis McGee Pendergast.Victoria
married in 1871 and moved to Bandera co. tx by 1880.

We are missing children, Calvin(age 28), and R.D. collins(age 29) as well
as a son born in 1853 by the name of Henry COllins and a son by the name of
Isham Collins(26). DOES anyone have 1870 census with these people on it? DO
you think the war ate them? Johnson collins came home from the war and
married in Harris co. just before 1870. HE is in montgomery co. in 1870.

sincerely, judy grimes, sharolyn wood, and a passle of Texas Collins Kin.
