The most likely paper to check would be the Temple Daily Telegram.
Fortunately, the Temple Public Library has archives of the obits going
back to the late 1800s from The Temple Daily Telegram AND they have them
indexed. For a minimal charge (I think $1.00 plus postage), they will
look for the obit as long as you have an approximate date. Contact Mike
Kelsey at the Temple Public Library:

Good luck...

Subject: [TXBELL] Obit lookup

Hi all,
I'm new to this list, and wondered if anyone can steer me to where I
might
find an obit from 1971. My cousin drown in Temple Lake in Belton, TX. I
can't seem to find a library which handles microfilm of that area and
period.
Any help would be appreciated.
