Subject: [TXBELL] North Belton Cemetery Residents List
Date: Mon, 15 Apr 2002 07:14:39 +0000
What a great time we had this weekend doing the
inventory of the North Belton Cemetery. I call it a
residents list. After spending so much time out there I
felt like I was home. So many names that are familiar
and so often inquired about on this list. I will be
getting it posted as soon as I get home and can get back
to my computer instead of the laptop here.
Despite the fact that I got stranded there when my car
blew a seal on the transmission, I had a great time. I
am still in Waco waiting for it to be repaired. Thanks
to Joe Deaver for hauling me around while we were there.
One of the advantages of being stranded here at my
cousin Neal Barron's house, is that he grew up in Belton
in the 20's, 30's and forties. I have a couple of books
with me on Bell County with lots of pictures. He is
telling me stories about so many of these people who
were part of the community and part of our heritage.
A Special thanks to Mary Lou had this project so well
organized that it was a breeze to work through it. I
had the pleasure of meeting some of my own kin who
happen to be on this list. Linda and Joe Smith, Jim
Cowan and Earl Pike and his family. The other ladies
that helped seem like family now, too.
I finally got access to a phone line to send this email
to say thank you to all those who participated and to
all those who expressed their appreciation. This is a
monumental task and I, like the rest of you, can't wait
to get it online.
Then on to the Next One!
