Judy, Have you read the following...?
AUDLEY EDWIN and ARRENA FREEMAN DENNIS Audley Edwin Dennis was born in 1819
in Warren County, Tenn. to Joseph and Annie Bybee Dennis, the youngest child
of a large family. The father,a farmer, was a Virginian by birth as was the
mother, but it is not known exactly when they arrived in Tennessee although
birth records of the children indicate that it was about 1804. Audley was
married to Arrena Freeman in 1839 in Warren County. No information is known
about her parents, but several of her siblings and their families eventually
moved to Bell County. In two or three years the family, now including two or
three children, went to Madison County, Arkansas where an older brother,
Joseph, Jr., lived. By about 1845 Audley went to Benton or Hickory County,
Missouri where his aged parents were then living,as well as several of his
brothers and sisters. Due to poor health, Audley and his family which now
consisted of six children, moved back to Arkansas and in about eighteen
months joined with his brothers, Joseph, Neal McCann and Jonathan, and a
widowed sister,Hannah Neal for a trek to Texas --all settled in Bell County
where many of their descendants still reside. Audley purchased a tract of
land on Little Elm Creek in 1854, where he raised livestock prior to the
Civil War. In 1882 the family moved to Temple where Dennis owned several
farms and built a large rock house on the Noland Creek which was still
standing in 1965. It is said that he was deeply interested in politics,
staunchly supporting the Democratic Party.
