Jody, thanks. The Thomas Harris who went to Texas is the son of the Thomas Harris I was speaking of. I am descended from the sister of the Thomas Harris who married Olivia Sugg. I looked on internet trying to find how to order the books but couldn't find anything. If you will tell me how to order and how much, I think I will go ahead and get them. Perhaps the person who submitted the information for the book will know something about Mrs. Walker's research. Larealia

Wow! You have some very prestigious ancestors in the Bell County area!
There is a bio on Andrew Jackson Harris and his family. Captain Andrew
Jackson Harris married Olivia Pearson Sugg in Mississippi and brought her
back to Texas. He taught school in Salado and Belton then went into a Law
partnership with another famous Texas Judge X.B. Saunders.
The house they lived in is just west of the Mary Hardin Baylor campus. It
has been awarded Historical Status. I will get you a picture of it if you
don't already have one.
Captain Harris was instrumental in bringing Baylor Female College to Belton
from Independence and served as the college attorney and as a trustee until
1910.
Their children were:
1. May married Sam Sims Walker
2. Ollie married John Hammersmith
3. Bessie m. Pike Phelps
4. Lucie m. J.M. Davis
5. Jack m. Frank Knowles (that's what it says)
6. Thomas W. died at age 2
7. Andrew J. died at age 2
May, Bessie, Lucie, Jack, Thomas and Andrew are buried in marked graves at
North Belton Cemetery.
This is the only Thomas I have found. I will keep looking.
I will try to get some of this typed or scanned and send to you privately.
It would be worth a trip to Belton just to see all the affect on this
community that your family has had. Mrs. Harris was responsible for much of
the success of the annual reunions of the Confederate Soldiers in Bell
County due to her planning and cordial words of welcome, which she had for
every veteran. She was a member of the Bell County chapter, United
Daughters of the Confederacy.
You may have already had all this but I am impressed. I will keep looking
for the other Thomas Harris, however, if he did not live in Bell County he
may not be mentioned.
Hope this helps.
