OK...Clementine Smith is found living with her son, Alfred Smith, in household 29, page 5, Beat # 5, Aiken Post Office, 1870 Bell County Census. Where was Aiken Post Office area?

CENSUS YR: 1860 STATE or TERRITORY: TX COUNTY: Bell DIVISION: P.O. Belton REEL NO: M653-1288 PAGE NO: 309b
REFERENCE: Jun- Aug,Thos. R. Cartnell enumerator

10 207 196 Smith David 55 M . farmer 320 500 North Ca. . . . . .
11 207 196 Smith Clementine 54 F . . . . Tennessee . . . . .
12 207 196 Smith Joseph 20 M . farm hand . 30 Georgia . . . . .
13 207 196 Smith Marietta 18 F . seamstress . . Georgia . . . . .
14 207 196 Smith Salina 15 F . seamstress . . Georgia . . . . .
15 207 196 Smith Sarah 13 F . . . . Georgia . . .

We're thinking that David and Clementine Smith would have been buried somewhere in the area they were living. The family has been looking for their graves for many, many years.

All of that is correct, Joe, But David doesn't show up anywhere in the 1870 census giving us the impression that he died before the census was taken. Clementine shows up as living with one of her children in the 1870 census somewhere. I found it once and can't seem to find it again.

I did a quick search of our online cemeteries using the information you
provided and did not find anything, but that does not include all cemeteries
in the county. I see them on the 1860 Bell County census in household 207,
page 309b:

10 207 196 Smith David 55 M
11 207 196 Smith Clementine 54 F
12 207 196 Smith Joseph 20 M
13 207 196 Smith Marietta 18 F
14 207 196 Smith Salina 15 F
15 207 196 Smith Sarah 13 F

Has anyone ever run across a David Smith and his wife, Clementine,
throughout the Bell County cemeteries? David was born about 1805 and
probably died before 1870. Clementine was born about 1805 and died before
1880. I sure need help on this one folks.

Thanks

Ric Gordon
