..sorry, I don't know H.C. Hargrove, but in 1930 he (age 24) and wife Lillian (23) were living next door to my JW and Hattie Clements.

Interesting that you mention Wlm. Carter Hess md. Elvira Pinkney Hargrove (on WC, it shows md. 3 Oct 1872 in Ark (no county) -- I've never been able to find parents of my Mary Elizabeth Hess (mother of Hattie Anderson).
Mary's death certificate shows her father as John Hess, mother unknown, and her obit (1935) says she had a brother Tom living in Ark. But I haven't found a John Hess that fits, nor a Tom Anderson in 1930 Ark. (think did see a Tom in Oklahoma that thought might be a possibility, and internet shows Wlm. Carter Hess died in Jackson Co, Ark. -- don't have 1930 census now to see where Tom Hess was in Ok)

...In 1880, newly married John Henry Anderson and wife Mary Elizabeth Hess (b. 1862) were living 2 houses from Sarah Hess, widow of Hiram, but of course Hiram and Sarah got missed on 1870 census, so unknown if Mary could be a daughter, but seems pretty certain she was closely connected to those. ??
