I can't find anything about your Warren and Addie, although I'm sure he's
either a descendant of Warren Knight Dalby (2/18/1806 Granville Co. NC -
3/15/1889 Dalby Springs), or at least his father Knightingale.

"Judge" Dalby is Norman Leonard Dalby (2/17/1876 Dalby Springs - 2/8/1971
New Boston), who served as District Judge of the 102nd Judicial District
(Red River and Bowie Co.) from 1/1/1935 until 12/31/1954. I hear he was
just the kind of crusty old conservative Texas judge one would be terrified
to appear before! The Judge was the 14th of 15 children of Warren Knight,
whose first wife (and mother of the first 7) was Lucinda Davis (11/9/1813
NC - 5/10/1846 Dalby Springs), and his second wife was Lucy Amanda Mitchell
(4/27/1840 MS - 9/13/1925 Aspermont, Stonewall Co. TX).

I have an 84-page Dalby family history written by the Judge in 1969. As he
says, he had a unique perspective because at the time of writing, he and his
father had lived over a span of 163 years! The Judge lists grandchildren of
Warren Knight, and there isn't a Warren Dalby, but two of his grandsons
could possibly have been having children in 1888. Another possibility is
that your Warren is descended from one of Warren Knights three younger
brothers, Phillip A., Thomas D., or Jack Cooper, all of whom moved to Bowie
Co. in 1939 (when it was the Republic) with Warren and their mother Nancy
Ann Bullock Dalby.

Send me your snail-mail if you're interested in receiving a copy of the
family history, or family groups for all the Dalbys.
