Folks, this is a lengthy article on the 1956 Hooks High School Reunion, but
I thought those interested in Hooks might like to read this.

The 1956 graduating class of Hooks High School held their 45th year reunion
on May 26, 2001. The event was held at Wright's Glass and Body Shop, Nash,
owned by Tony Wright.

The planning committee for the reunion consisted of the following
individuals: Larry Wilburn, Johnny Hill, Bettie Sue West, Alvarie Aultman,
James Smith, Tony Wright, June Peterson, and Reeder Barkman.

A memorabilia display included school annuals, scrap books, pictures of
previous reunions and other items. A memorial table was dedicated to
deceased classmates. A book with pictures of these classmates as well as
their obituaries and/or tributes was exhibited with a lighted candle.

The delicious meal of fried fish with all the trimmings was enjoyed by all.
Other goodies were a vegetable tray, fruit tray, sausage balls, cheese roll,
and a sausage tray. Dessert was a beautifully decorated cake.

Entertainment of country and gospel music was provided by "Cuz Music Man",
Randy Estes. An Elvis impersonator also provided a great presentation of
favorite songs.

Teachers attending were Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Miller, Mr. Quince Tiller, Mrs.
Edith Conner, and Mr. M. O. parker.

Texas, Edna Arnold and her sister, Pat, Texarkana, TX.; Reeder Barkman,
Garland, TX.; Jim and Patsy Ann Denman, McKenzie,TN.; Thomas David Dove,
Fort Worth, TX.: Bettie Sue (Hall) West, Redwater; Loyd and Betty (Henson)
Jones, Daingerfield; Harry and Delma Ann (Highnight) Allen, Hooks; John and
Judy Hill, Texarkana, TX.: Bobbie (Hood) Atkinson, Henderson, TX.;Lyle and
Shirley (Hughes) Jaehnke, Beaver Dam, WI.; Pete and June (Johnson) Peterson,
Hooks,: Richard and Laura (Jones) Sewell, Balch Springs, TX.; Ethel Mize,
Hooks, Donald and Betty Puckett, Dallas; Clydean (Reese) McElroy, Perryton,
TX.: Joe and Alvarie (Shelton) Aultman, Hooks; Geneva (Kyles) Smith, Nash;
James and Betty Smith, Nash, Rodney Taylor, Hooks; Larry Wilburn, Texarkana,
TX.; Tony Wright, Nash; Elvin and Laverne Wyatt, Jr., Fruitvale, Texas;
James and Nancy Adams, Texarkana, TX.; Charles and Betty Atterbery, Terrell,
TX.; Mary (Caddenhead) Dailey, Texarkana, TX.; Peggy (Brown) Lunger,
Garland, TX.; Ray Lynn and Shelia Harmon Hooks; Decker Sellers, Hooks;
Harold Smith, Fouke, AR.; Barbara (Stone) McClure and her daughter, Debra,
Houston and Shreveport. Others attending, Lavon Moye, and Pattie (Mullins)
Tenbrook.

The success of this reunion was achieved by everyone who donated their time
to attend and sharing part of their lives to make this such an enjoyable and
pleasant occasion.

Some of those unable to attend because of distance or illness were:
Emerson Balmain-Kuwait, Joan (Hinds) Malone, Harold Branson; other
commitments: May Dell (Smith) Guynes, Nancy (Wilbanks) Robitaille, Jimmy
Graves, and Cletus (Hurt) Pickett, and Archie Fields.
