BOWIE COUNTY COURTHOUSE, P.O. Box 248, New Boston, TX 75570-0248
(903) 628-2571 County is not online. No records prior to 1889 when the
courthouse burned except deeds prior to 1889 can be found at the Abstract
Companies in Texarkana for a fee. Courthouse charges $1 per page to copy,
$11 for birth or death record. See New Boston Library for microfilms of
county records.

NEW BOSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY, 127 N Ellis, New Boston, TX 75570
(903) 628-5414 Is not on-line but many members of the Genealogy Society are
as shown in their Quarterlies Has genealogy section, many state & county
census, family sheets, microfilms of most county records (you can make copies
of county records for 25 cents per page), microfilms of 11th, 23rd and 32nd
Texas Cavalry, CSA, has cemetery books covering all of Bowie Co. Has Bowie
Co marriages, Poll Tax, Auto Registrations (1907-17). New Boston newspapers
destroyed by fire in 1980's, no microfilms of papers prior to 1980.

soldiers and unit histories.

MASONS-Texas Grand Lodge Library and Museum, P.O. Box 446, Waco, TX 76703,
(817) 753-7395, has membership cards on almost all members of the lodges in
Texas, giving dates, locations, etc.

CLARKSVILLE NEWSPAPER-Clarksville Library has microfilm of copies back to
1846 and some indexes. Has lots of Bowie Co information

SOUTHWEST ARKANSAS REGIONAL ARCHIVES AT OLD WASHINGTON, AR, has early
(1810-1841) information on Bowie Co since Bowie Co was a part of ARK then
This research facility is now on State Highway 195, South in the Old
Washington Elementary School Building. The phone number is 870-983-2633. The
address is Post Office Box 134, Washington, AR 71862.
The Archives is a non-profit organization supported by donations.
Staffing does not permit many extensive lookups and there is NO $5.00 an hour
charge for any that may be performed. Other than a small fee for copies,

EARLY WRITTEN HISTORY-very little exists. Watlington's Manuscripts, covering
the History of Bowie Co was written in 1920. James Lynch's writings covering
Boston and Bowie Co were written and drawn in 1948. Some newspaper articles
from the 1920.
