SAMUEL ATKINSON, JR, ( born before 1730, Southampton Co. VA died, c. 1800,
Robeson Co, NC), married Sarah Washington in 1781, daughter of John
Washington
of Virginia and North Carolina. Family stories say that John 'disowned'
his
children by Tama when she died and he remarried. Also, Sarah was further
allowed only her personal possessions when she married Samuel.

SAMUEL WASHINGTON ATKINSON, (b. March 5, 1797, Robeson Co., NC, d. July
27,1872, Williamson Co., TX.) married NANCY JORDAN, daughter of THOMAS and
PRISCILLA APPLEWHITE JORDAN. Samuel and Nancy were the parents of seven
children, all
born in Franklin Co., GA. They moved from Georgia to Pontotoc Co., MS,
then to
Webberville, Travis Co., Texas in 1851, and to Caldwell Co. TX in 1856.
Samuel was a hatter and a schoolteacher.

Note: Samuel evidently loved to write letters, and several have
survived, I
have some that are 'copies', with copies in the Texas State Library.
