I am interested in any information about the family who owned a 2 1/2 story "mansion" on the shore of Green Lake (near public road) from the 1850s til the 1870s. This was part of a large plantation and cattle ranch. This family reportedly came to Calhoun County from Louisiana where they owned a sugar plantation. All the family members succumbed to illness and died, first the children, then mother, and finally the father. Their "mansion" was abandoned by the 1870s. I assume the deceased members of this family were buried near their home by Green Lake. Is anybody familiar with the family, or place?
