DONNA A. LIGHT, 76, of Brownsville, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at
Valley Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m.
on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at The Church of the Advent, Episcopal, 104 W.
Elizabeth St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The
Children's Wish Foundation International, 8615 Roswell Road, Atlanta, Ga.

ISMAEL JUAREZ LOPEZ, 37, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at Valley
Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Estacion La Noria de Angeles,
Zacatecas, Mexico and Los Fresnos resident. Funeral arrangements are pending
under Garza Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511.
ANTONIO GUEVARA
Antonio Guevara, 84, entered into eternal peace Thursday, May 25, 2006, at
Valley Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Guevara and Manuela Ramos.
He will be missed by his wife, Guadalupe Garza Guevara; daughters, Manuela
G. (Sergio) Hernandez, Pilar G. (Ramiro) Alaniz, and Juanita G. (Mario)
Alvear; son, Francisco Antonio (Magdalena) Guevara. He is also survived by
17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members
and friends.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy rosary
at 7 p.m., today, Friday, May 26, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at
Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Committal service will follow at Buena Vista
Burial Park.

JUAN JOSE SAENZ GARCIA
Juan Jose Saenz Garcia, 59, was born June 16, 1946 and passed away at 6:19
a.m. May 24, 2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife, Olga R. Saenz; children, Ana, Olga, Juan, Aida,
and Saul; sons-in-law, Abel, Ramiro, and Adrian; daughter-in-law, Julia. He
is also survived by his grandchildren, Christian, Ceasar, Celeste, Aylin,
and Ramiro.
Visitation was held from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with recitation of the holy
rosary at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena
Vista.
A chapel service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today Friday, May 26, 2006,
at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista. Committal Service will follow at Buena
Vista Burial Park.

JOSE HERNANDEZ JR.
Jose Hernandez Jr., 49, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday,
May 25, 2006 at Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville.
He is survived by his loving family; parents, Esteban Hernandez and Maria
Aleman; wife, Irma Estela Hernandez; three children, Laura Hernandez, Rosa
Hernandez (John Celestine), Jose Hernandez; one step-son, Jacob Oro; and his
grandchildren, Umika, Xavier, and Johnny.
Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Guerra Funeral
Home of Brownsville, 3955 Coffee Port Road (956) 544-1171.
MELVIN DEAN BROWN
Melvin Dean Brown, age 81, of Bemidji, Minn. died Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at
North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji.
Melvin Dean Brown was born June 11, 1924 to Ira and Pearl (Wilson) Brown in
Devils Lake, N.D. He grew up and attended school in Devils Lake. He served
in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the service he returned to
Devils Lake and married Doris Azure in Crookston, Minn. on May 24, 1947. He
began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Devils Lake until he retired in
1980. He married Helen King on April 21, 1962 in Racine, Minn. They resided
in Brownsville, Texas until 2001, when Melvin moved to Bemidji to live with
his daughter. Melvin was a "Jack of all Trades" and enjoyed being a handy
man. He took a special liking to repairing Volkswagens.
Melvin is survived by his daughters, Charlotte Halle of Bemidji, and Annette
(Harvey) Nelson, Boaz, Ala.; sons, Gary Brown of Houston, Texas, Terry
Brown, Grand Forks, N.D. and Gene (LaVonne) Brown, Grand Forks; 15
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Hollis Brown of
Devils Lake.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen; sister, Naomi Koch;
brother, Delbert Brown, and a grandson, Daniel Brown.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service to begin
at 7 p.m. with Rev. Mark Kindem officiating, on Friday, May 26, 2006 at
Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home in Bemidji.
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at G.A.R.
Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND with Rev. Bruce Dick officiating. Online guest

MARJORIE JOYCE NOVICH COHEN
Marjorie Joyce Novich Cohen, 93, died Sunday, May 7, 2006, in Dallas.
She was born June 10, 1912, in Dallas and was a member of a prominent
pioneer Dallas family. Her maternal grandfather, Jacob Purvin, was among the
founder of Temple Emanu-El in 1890.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Novich and Fanny Purvin
Novich; a sister, Felice Novich Solomon and her husband, Ben Cohen.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Barry Cohen and his wife, Rosalee of
Brownsville, Texas; sister, Dorothy Novich Levy (Mrs. Milton Levy); nephew,
Steven Levy and his wife, Joanna, all of Dallas.
A 1929 graduate of Forest High School and the St. Louis School of Dance,
Mrs. Cohen conducted a dancing school at Temple Emanu-el in the 1930's and
married Ben Cohen of Dallas in 1934. Mr. Cohen was one of the owners of
Cohen Candy Company, the oldest wholesale candy business in Dallas and
McCraw Candy Factory in Farmersville, Texas. A lover of the arts, Mrs. Cohen
was a strong supporter of the Dallas Summer Musicals and the Dallas Ballet,
but was especially proud of having coached her son's six-men Hyer Elementary
football team in the 1940's.
Graveside services were held on Monday, May 8, 2006, at Temple Emanu-El
Cemetery with Rabbi Emertus Gerald J. Klein officiating.

GUSTAVO TREVIÑO
Gustavo Treviño, 89, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, May 24, 2006,
at Valley Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was a loving husband, an excellent father, and a great friend, he will be
dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his son, Jose Luis; one brother, Rafael; and one
sister, Beatriz.
He is survived by his loving wife, Guadalupe Treviño; his children,
Guadalupe, Sergio, Jorge, Nelly, Gustavo, Miguel Angel, Ramon, Jesus, Mario,
and Martin. Mr. Trevino is also survived by many grandchildren;
great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margarita, Maria, and Rosa; and many
other family members.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary to be recited
at 7 p.m. today, Friday, May 26, 2006, at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, at

GUADALUPE "LUPITA" GARZA PEREZ
Guadalupe "Lupita" Garza Perez, 77, entered into eternal rest with the Lord
Saturday, May 20, 2006, at her residence in Brownsville, Texas.
Lupita was a loving mother to her sons, Aquileo "Leo" Perez Jr. and David
Perez. A devoted and loving grandmother to her beautiful granddaughters,
Alfia Ann Estrada and Davina Marie Perez. An affectionate and loving
great-grandmother to Ethan James Estrada and Jade Alexa Estrada.
Her smile and joyful ways will be dearly missed by all who knew her love and
whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rojelio Garza and Loretta Guerra
Garza; brothers, Alejandro and Rojelio Garza and sister, Fela Rodriguez.
Left to mourn her death and forever cherish her memory is her loving family;
sons, Aquileo "Leo" Perez Jr. of Atlanta, and David Perez of San Benito;
granddaughters, Alfia Ann Estrada of San Benito and Davina Marie Perez of
Los Fresnos; great-grandchildren, Ethan James Estrada and Jade Alexa
Estrada; her companion; Luis Flores of San Antonio; brothers, Alberto Garza
of San Benito, Jose "Pepe" Garza and Manuel Garza both of Brownsville;
sisters, Delia Garcia of Tucson, Ariz., Estella Garza of Phoenix, Ariz. and
Sera Rodriguez of Tecumse, Mich; and numerous other relatives.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Yolanda Riggins for her
loving care; her niece, Letty Hernandez; her providers, Celia Aguilar and
Veronica Martinez.
Visitations will be at 11:30 a.m. with a holy rosary to be recited at 2 p.m.
and a chapel service to follow on Saturday, May 27, 2006, at Guerra Funeral
Home "Chapel of Arch Angels".
