MARION N. SNYDER, 75, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at Valley Regional
Medical Center in Brownsville. He was a native of Winfield, Kan. and a
resident of Port Isabel and Brownsville. There will be no local services.
Cremation services will be under the direction of Garza Memorial Funeral
Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511.




GUILLERMO "MEMO" PEREZ, 49, of Port Isabel, passed away Wednesday, July 26,
2006, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville. Funeral arrangements
are pending under the direction of Thomae-Garza Funeral Directors, 395 S.
Sam Houston Blvd., San Benito (956) 399-1331.




BEATRIZ FLORES CARDENAS
Beatriz Flores Cardenas, 40, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2006, in Los
Fresnos.

She was born July 28, 1965, in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She was a
20-year resident of Los Laureles and Los Fresnos. Mrs. Cardenas was
currently employed with the Los Fresnos Consolidated Independent School
District as a bus driver. She was a member of Centro Familiar Cristiano
Nueva Vida of San Benito.

Mrs. Cardenas was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Soto de Flores.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Gerardo Cardenas of Los Laureles; three
children, Santa Yadira Cardenas De Gonzalez, Luis Gerardo Cardenas, and
Karina Anilu Cardenas, all of Los Laureles; her father, Felix Flores De La
Fuente; two grandchildren, Daniela and Isaac Gonzalez Cardenas, both of Los
Laureles; six sisters, San Juana Maria Flores of Monterrey, Mexico, Raquel
Fortuna Flores of Los Fresnos, Josefina Flores Brito of Reynosa, Mexico,
Rosa Maria Flores of H. Matamoros, Mexico, Olga Lidia Flores Soto of
Monterrey, and Berta Alicia Flores De Gonzalez of San Benito; seven
brothers, Mario Flores Soto of Monterrey, Felix Flores Soto of San Benito,
Baldomero Flores Soto of Weslaco, Manuel Flores Soto of Dallas, Joel
Abelardo Flores Soto of Monterrey, Jose Maria Flores Soto of Monterrey, and
Felix Fernando Flores Cruz of San Fernando, Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Visitations will begin at 10 a.m. today, July 27, 2006 and end at 10 a.m.
Friday, July 28, 2006, at Centro Familiar Cristiano Nueva Vida Church, 32644
FM Road 510, San Benito.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at the church.
Interment will follow to Los Cuates Community Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her husband, Oscar Gerardo Cardenas, her son,
Luis Gerardo Cardenas, and her seven brothers, Mario, Felix, Baldomero,
Manuel, Joel Abelardo, Jose Maria Flores Soto, and Felix Fernando Flores
Cruz.

AMADOR CORTINAS
Amador Cortinas, 81, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at
Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville. He was born August 19, 1924. He
was a native and lifelong Brownsville resident.

Mr. Cortinas is survived by his loving wife, Ninfa Juanita Cortinas;
children, Adelina Ramirez (Jose Guadalupe), Evangelina C. Ramos, Miguel
Angel (Estella), Maximo Cortinas; sisters, Andrea Puente and Angelita Mendez
of Chicago Heights, Ill. and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the holy
rosary at 7:30 p.m. today, July 27, 2006 at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.

Chapel service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006, at Funeraria del
Angel Buena Vista. Committal service will follow at El Carmen Cemetery in
San Pedro.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Funeraria del Angel

MARIA MODESTA GONZALEZ
Maria Modesta Gonzalez, 72, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2006, at her
residence in Brownsville. She was born Nov. 4, 1933 in Guadalajara, Mexico
and resided most of her life in Brownsville.

She is preceded in death by her father, Miguel Suarez; her husband, Pascual
Gonzalez; her son, Pascual Gonzalez Jr.; a sister, Ignacia Lamas; and her
brother, Gonzalo Esteves.

She is survived by her mother, Albina Espinoza; her sons and daughters,
Maria de Jesus G. (Roman) Salgado, Loenel R. Gonzalez, Jorge (Nora)
Gonzalez, Miguel (Silvia) Gonzalez, Cira Elsa Gonzalez, Rene Gonzalez, Maria
Griselda G. (Homero) Garcia, Migdalia G. (Mike) Ruedas, Nilda G. (Rolando)
Lopez, Ernesto (Michelle) Gonzalez, and Daniel (Helen) Gonzalez; 38
grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Visitation was from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary recited at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Funeraria del Angel Buena Vista.

Committal service will follow in Matamoros,Tamaulipas.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Roman Salgado, Arturo Salgado,
Jorge Gonzalez, Aaron Gonzalez, Favian Villalobos, Ivan Ruvalcaba, Jaime
Rios, Miguel Gonzalez, Rolando Lopez, Ricardo Lopez, Miguel Gonzalez,
Alejandro Gonzalez, and Leonel Gonzalez Jr.
