MARIA R. GARCIA, 89, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Valley
Regional Medical Center. Mr. Garcia will be transferred to Funerales
Escobedo in Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico. Local Funeral arrangements are under
the direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, (956) 544-1171.
BABY JARED ABRAHAM SEGOVIA passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006, at Valley
Regional Medical Center. His body will be transferred to Funeral Esobedo in
Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico. Local Funeral arrangements are under the
direction of Guerra Funeral Home of Brownsville, (956) 544-1171.
GUADALUPE VASQUEZ GARZA
Guadalupe Vasquez Garza, 71, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at his
residence. He was a native of Brownsville and had lived here all of his
life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Marcelina Garza; and a
brother, Santos Garza.
Mr. Garza is survived by his wife, Reutilia Garza; eight children, Carmen
(Valentin) Torres, Josefa (Jose) Balderas, Guadalupe Garza Jr., Cristina
Garza, Sofia (Ruben) Alvear, Valentin Contreras, Jesus and Andres Caldera;
one brother, Jose Garza; and one sister, Oliva Rios; grandchildren Valentin
Torres Jr., Jose, Daniel, Servando and Marisol, Balderas; nephews; nieces
and other relatives.
Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006. Mass of the Resurrection will
be held at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Our Lady of Good Counsel
Catholic Church. Committal service will follow to Buena Vista burial Park.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Joe I. Treviño, Garza
Memorial Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511.
EUFEMIA GARCIA
Eufemia Garcia, 81, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at her residence.
She was a native of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico and had been a Brownsville
resident most of her life.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Garcia.
Mrs. Garcia is survived her children, Herlinda Garcia, Gloria (Manuel)
Alanis, Isidro (Catarina) Garcia, Noelia (Hector) Galvan and Alma (Ismael)
Garcia; grandchildren; great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Friday, Dec. 22, 2006,
with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m.
Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Garza Memorial Funeral Home chapel. Committal
Service will follow to Buena Vista Burial Park.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Joe I. Treviño, Garza Memorial
Funeral Home, 1025 E. Jackson St., (956) 542-5511.
REFUGIA P. "CUCA" MEDINA
Refugia P. "Cuca" Medina, 94, of Brownsville entered into eternal rest on
Dec. 20, 2006, at her residence in Brownsville.
Refugia was born in San Fernando on June 10, 1912, to Patricio and Maria de
la Luz Peralez. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic
Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonio Medina; a
son, Ismael Medina; a daughter, Juanita Medina; her brother, Gualberto
Peralez; her sisters, Guadalupe and Incarnacion "Chonita" Peralez.
She is survived by her children, Maria Luisa Adame and Gualberto Medina,
both of Oregon, Antonio Medina Jr., Angelica Wolfe, Carolina Medina and
Elvira Medina, all of Brownsville; her siblings, Efrain Peralez and Micaela
Ramos, both of Brownsville, Rebecca Gonzalez of San Rosa, Texas, and Aurora
Garcia of Corpus Christi; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and
great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today, Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, with a holy
rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Darling-Mouser Chapel. Mass of
Resurrection will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Our Lady of
Good Counsel Catholic Church with burial to follow to Villa Nueva Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rolando Cisneros Medina, Antonio Medina III, Guillermo
Ramos, Patricio Peralez, Patricio Peralez Jr. and Gilberto Peralez.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Darling-Mouser Funeral Home, 945 Palm
Blvd., Brownsville, Texas, 78520, (956) 546-7111.
