ALLENE MACOMB HUNNICUTT, 82, passed away at Harlingen Medical Center on
Sunday morning. Services are pending and will be announced by Henry Thomae
Funeral Home of San Benito, 399-9992.
AGUSTIN MATA, 84, entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Saturday, Jan.
20, 2007, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville.
Visitations and rosary were held on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at guerra Funeral
Home Chapel of the Holy Family.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Guerra Funeral Home of
Brownsville, 3955 Coffee Port Rd., (956)544-1171.
Memorial services for LARRY HOLLOWAY, 54, will be held today at 11 a.m. at
The Baptist Temple Church in San Benito. Services have been entrusted to
Henry Thomae Funeral Home 701 N. Bowie San Benito. 399-9992.
PORFIRIO 'PORFI' AYALA JR.
Porfirio "Porfi" Ayala Jr., 60, of Harlingen entered into eternal rest with
the Lord on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, in San Antonio.
Porfi was an army veteran and moved to Harlingen in 1984. He was employed
for 18 years as a field supervisor with Rio Mechanical and was a Master
Plumber.
Porfi was preceded in death by his father, Porfirio Ayala, his brothers
Albert Ayala and Esteban "Steve" Ayala; his paternal grandparents, Alberto
Ayala and Rosa Garcia Ayala and his maternal grandparents, Esteban Medina
and Micaela Medina.
Porfi is survived by his wife Aurora Gaytan Ayala; his children Conrado
(Sandra) Porfirio Ayala, Rosemary Ayala, Robert (Anna) Gaytan Jr., and
Yvette (Anastacio) Salmeron of Harlingen, Janice Sue (Luis) Bueno of
Houston, Melissa (Robert) Walker of San Antonio; his mother Josefa "Chepa"
Ayala of Brownsville; his two brothers Joe Ayala of Harlingen, Alfredo Ayala
of Los Fresnos; his sister RoseMary Ayala of Los Fresnos; his grandchildren
Jose Luis Ayala, Michael Ayala, Brian Ayala, Robert Gaytan III, Kimberly Ann
Lozano, and Kassandra Renee Lozano of Harlingen, Janice Sue Garay, Hector
Vela, Christian Ali Bueno, and Adam Bueno of Houston, Isaiah Walker of San
Antonio; his cousin Debra Medina Koopman, whom he loved dearly; and numerous
nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. today, Monday, Jan. 22,
2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista
Burial Park. Military rites will be conducted at graveside under the
direction of the American Legion Post 43 Honor Guard.
Honored to be serving as Porfi's pallbearers are: Conrado Ayala, Robert
Gaytan, Jr., Rudy Cardenas, Anastacio "Tacho" Salmeron, Guadalupe Elizondo,
and Fausto Cuevas. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers Joe Ayala and
Alfredo Ayala and his nephews Steven Edward Ayala, Jerry Ayala, Mark Anthony
Ayala, and Keith Eric Ayala.

MANUEL GARCIA AYALA
Manuel Garcia "La Perrita" Ayala, 84, beloved husband, father, and
grandfather entered into the glory of his eternal life unexpectedly on
Friday, Jan. 19, 2007.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Mr. Ayala was born on July 8,
1922 to Albert and Rosa Ayala. He was a retired longshoreman, having worked
at the Port of Brownsville for 35 years. He also worked for Union Pacific
for 10 years and was an Army veteran having served his country in World War
II.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Rosa Ayala; his
mother-in-law, Romanita Ochoa Cardenas; his sisters and brothers-in-law,
Mary and George Chronis and Josefina and Ramon Buitron, Sr.; his brothers
and sister-in-law, Porfirio Ayala, Sr. and Jose and Guadalupe Ayala; his
oldest daughter Alicia Ayala and his youngest son Juan Carlos Ayala, and his
nephews Albert Ayala, Esteban "Steve" Ayala, and Porfirio "Porfi" Ayala.
Left to mourn his death and eternally treasure his memory are: his beloved
wife of 54 years, Bernardina Cardenas Ayala; his daughters, Yolanda Meza and
Maggie (Javier) Barrientes; his sons, Manuel (Irma) Ayala, Jr., Armando
(Lucia) Ayala, Luis Carlos (Laura) Ayala and Oscar Ayala; his
sisters-in-law, Josefa "Chepa" Ayala, Julia (Felix) Medina, and Dolores
(Fernando) Medina; his grandchildren, Myra, Amanda, Veronica, Miriam, Sindy,
Javier, Jr., Ivan, Claudio, Manuel Ernesto, and Armando, Jr., in addition to
several nieces and nephews and his close friend Beatriz Ayala.
Visitation will begin today, Monday, Jan. 22, at 9 a.m. and continue through
9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. at Darling-Mouser
Funeral Home. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday,
Jan. 23, 2007, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Military rites will be
conducted at graveside under the direction of the American Legion Post 43
Honor Guard.
Javier Barrientes, Sr., Javier Barrientes, Jr., Ivan Estrada, Javier
Estrada, Jr., David Suarez III, Armando Ayala, Jr., Myra Ayala, and Sindy
Barrientes are honored to be serving as pallbearers for Mr. Ayala. Honorary
pallbearers will be his children, Yolanda Meza, Maggie Barrientes, Manuel
Ayala, Jr., Armando Ayala, Sr., Luis Carlos Ayala, and Oscar Ayala.
Manuel was a devoted husband, a great father, and a loving grandfather. He
was always happy with a smile on his face. We will miss you Dad; you left us
too soon.

ISAIAS SOTO RUIZ
Isaias Soto Ruiz was born in Brady, Texas on Nov. 7, 1928. He was a loving
father, husband, and grandfather. He passed away on Saturday Jan. 20, 2007,
in Brownsville, Texas.
Isaias Soto Ruiz was preceded in death by his stepfather Dolores Hernandez.
He is survived by his wife Josefina M. Soto, his mother Elvira S. Hernandez,
a sister Maria T. Hernandez; his sons Carlos, Jaime, and David Soto;
daughters Velma, Letty, Alicia Soto, and 7 grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday Jan. 21, 2007, from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a
recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7 p.m.
A chapel service will be held on Monday Jan. 22, 2007, at 12:30 p.m. at
Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista.
A committal service will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park at 1 p.m.
