the askews were in arkansas before coming to texas.i have seen some records that show alexander calhouns birth as columbia county arkansas but the 1860 clayton co.ga census and the 1880 camp co tx census show ga.his mother remarried to jeremiah l.russell in pittsburg,camp co.tx sometime before 1880.brother john wilson askew married grace estelle downey daughter of joseph boyd downey and emma josephine torr.brother john wilson askew is in the household of w.k.heath in the 1880 camp co.tx census he is age 23 and listed as a brakeman for the r.r.
jeremiah russell was married first to sarah e.bailey on nov 30 1849 in coweta co.ga.im not sure when narona askews husband john askew died but i have seen him listed as john wilson askew sr.
jeremiah russell died feb 13,1908 in pittsburg,camp co.tx and is buried at rose hill cemetery and narona askew russell died nov 26,1919 in camp co.tx.
also have thomas jefferson askew private co.i 30th ga vol infantry "clayton invincibles" csa.
