I am truly sorry! My words caused you pain and that was not intended! All questions have merit and are worthy of research. Please forgive me? My aim was to recommend/suggest another option to resolve your "brickwall" about the status of Elmer Harris. Consider my reasoning? This is a difficult search! The original question was posted 9 Oct 2000. It received no response until Paula Sain's contributions on 11 Jul 2008. She is probably the best researcher contributing to Texas' Community Bulletin Boards. If Elmer's "footprints" were clear, she would have linked him to the family. I attempted to do that but failed. I found no trace of him, after 1910, in any of the counties near Camp. I did find an Elmer Weaver in Dallas County and his father was a native of Mississippi. However, I have no way of proving that person's heritage. I recommended contacting living members/descendants of the Weaver family in hopes that family lore/bibles/keepsakes would provide an answer!
to your question. I am grateful Paula took the initiative on this query. When I reviewed the original question, I looked for a Cody Harris in Georgia, born about 1882. If he married in Georgia, then he must have lived there? Found one! Cody Harris born 15 Oct 1882 in Oglethorpe, GA. Registered for WWI Draft and died in the same county. Wrong Cody Harris! The right person was a Mississippi-native who relocated to Texas after the 1900 census. The marriage dissolved and both he and his former wife united with others prior to 1910. Cody expired about 1909, barely 30 years of life. Tracing his roots, without family contributions, will be nearly impossible! Again, I meant no harm! With more than 700 postings, I have assisted many people in several states. My goal is to share a passion for genealogy, not insult anyone!
