Peggy, Thank you so much for your offer of help. I would love a picture of his grave if you can find it. It would not be in the Black part of the cemetery. I am trying to find out about his military experience. It's a big question to me. I can't seem to locate any family help on this. If there would be something in his obit or on his headstone that would tell me his regiment (if that is the right word for Naval service), then I could proceed from there. He most likely enlisted from IN or IL, but that is all that I know. Thank you again for any help that you can offer. Dianne DeYoung, Plainwell, MI
