Hello Doss and other list members who are not aware of this fact,

If a person was "free" and the head of the household, then the census listing began in 1790.

It was not until 1850 that every one in the household was listed by name (or depending on the census taker, possibly
by initial only). Even then, they were only listed if they were "free". In addition, they had a column for
"race". In 1850 and 1860 there was a separate census for slaves. Just like the main census, the information given
depended on the census taker. I have seen some where every slave name and age was given; and then I've seen those
where only the slave owner's name was given and the total number of slaves and age groupings (the way it was done on
the 1830-1840 censuses).

It wasn't until 1870 that ALL people were listed on the same census.

I wasn't sure what you were asking on the "listing for the periods of early 1900 and later" meant.
