Today I was searching a website of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in
Brazil. Most of you may not know about the many Confederate veterans who
moved their families to Brazil after the War Between the States. No, it was
not a slavery issue. It was because of their beliefs in states rights.

Descendants of those soldiers live in Brazil today.

I found one man listed in the soldiers who may be of interest to someone in
the area. He was John Henry Scurlock who served in CO I, 6th TX. While I did
not find him on the list for Co I under Ross, he may very well have been from
the NE TX area.

Read more about the Confederados at http://www.scv.org/Camp1653/index.htm and
check other soldiers and families while there. Very interesting history.
