Is anyone on the list researching the SUMMERS family in Cherokee Co.
TX? I need some help. My4th great-grandmother was a SUMMERS before she
married. I know very little at all about her family. I do know that
some of her SUMMERS relatives also moved to Cherokee Co. I am in hopes
someone on the lists knows more about this family and can help me. Here
is the little info I have:

Celia (or Sela/Sheila) SUMMERS was born on 27 December 1800 in NC. She
died after 1880 in TX as I found her listed as a widow on the 1880
Cherokee Co. TX census. In about 1822, she had married Charles Finley
(or Fendley) LOWE, Jr. who was born on 29 November 1798 in VA. He died
in 1874 in Cherokee Co. TX. They married in Tennessee, probably
Rutherford Co. as thats where they lived after their marriage.

Celia (Sela/Sheila) was the daughter of a William SUMMERS and his wife,
Ellender or Eleanor. On the LDS Ancestral File I found some information
that indicated there was at least one other daughter and her name was
Rebecca, born abt 1814.

Thanks to some info sent to me earlier today by another list member, I
see that on the 1870 Cherokee Co. census, three persons named SUMMERS
were living in the household with Charles Finley LOWE and his wife,
Celia (listed as Sealy on that census). A Melton SUMMERS, age 30,
white, male, a farmer born in TN; Eliza SUMMERS, a 29 year old female,
white, housekeeper born in Alabama; and Rufus SUMMERS, a 27 year old
farm worker, white, male, born in TN.

Can anyone help me with this family? I don't have much info to go on so
I really need some help. Thank you.
