Subject: County records for Interlibrary Loan: warning

I have been interlibrary loaning the deed records for Colorado County
from the Texas Archives Regional Depository at TX A and M in COllege
Station.
I have ordered 5 rolls of film several times for a total of 15-20 films.
On the last order that I received (last Friday) my library notified me
that College Station "had decided to start charging" and that they had
stated they intended to forward a bill for $20 to my library for me to
pay.
I had no idea that a fee was involved in the service. They did not state
that on my first order or any subsequent one until now.
It turns out that their fee is $20 if you order one roll, or a total of
5. If all 5 are ordered and mailed together, it is $20. If you order a
single roll of film, PERIOD, it is $20.
Why they waited until I had placed multiple orders to charge me I do not
know.
If you plan to order any microfilm, I have been told by the Texas State
Archives Representative that TX A and M has had a policy or charging for
a few years now.
So beware. If your order gets fragmented, and the films end up getting
ordered separately and not together, you could be stuck with a sizeable
bill of $20-$100.
